BUCKSPORT — In an appeal to the public, the Bucksport Police Department is requesting assistance with an ongoing investigation into a hit-and-run incident that left a senior citizen seriously injured.

The incident, which occurred several months ago on Main Street, involved a pedestrian being struck by a black Jeep Cherokee while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

Authorities have determined that the suspect vehicle was traveling east on Main Street and continued onto Rt. 1 without stopping, despite having collided with the pedestrian.

The vehicle in question is expected to have sustained damage to the front passenger’s side.

The Bucksport Police Department has collaborated with state and federal law enforcement agencies to enhance video and image evidence of the incident.

While they acknowledge that processing evidence can be time-consuming, they remain hopeful that community engagement can expedite the investigation.

Police have released images from traffic cameras at the Main Street/Rt. 1 intersection and near the Bucksport Town Office in hopes that witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the event will come forward.

The department has urged those with pertinent information to contact them directly.

They also request that the community refrains from posting negative comments on social media, emphasizing the seriousness of the case and the value of positive contributions from the public.

Anyone who has information related to the hit-and-run or recognizes the suspect vehicle is encouraged to reach out to the Bucksport Police Department to assist in the resolution of the case and provide justice for the injured community member.
