SKOWHEGAN — Fire investigators from the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office are looking into the cause of a tent fire that resulted in burn injuries to two individuals on Jan. 6.
The Skowhegan Fire Department called in the Fire Marshal’s Office (FMO) at 9:02 p.m. to the scene at 61 Russell Road after reports of the fire.
Upon arrival, authorities found a destroyed tent and learned that two people had sustained burns.
The victims were promptly evaluated on the scene and transported to Reddington Fairview Hospital, where they remain under medical care.
Initial findings by the FMO indicate that a leaking propane tank inside the tent ignited, causing a flash fire.
The fire, which also consumed the contents of the tent, is being treated as accidental.
The names of the individuals involved are being withheld by the FMO at this time as the investigation continues.
