Rhode Island troopers make multiple arrests for drug possession, forgery, and domestic violence

COVENTRY — Rhode Island State Troopers conducted several arrests following motor vehicle stops in Coventry and West Warwick, leading to charges including drug possession, forgery, and violation of a protection order.

On Jan. 6 at 11:19 a.m., troopers apprehended Krista Fogarty, 19, during a vehicle stop on Tiogue Avenue.

Fogarty, a Coventry resident, faces charges of possessing more than 10 grams of a Schedule I-IV controlled substance, specifically cocaine, and forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates.

After her arrest, Fogarty was taken to Hope Valley Barracks, where she was processed and arraigned before being released pending a court date in the Third District Court.

Later the same day, at 4:16 p.m., Luis Simancas Moreta, 36, of New Haven, Connecticut, was arrested on Route 95 in Exeter.

Simancas Moreta was charged with a first offense of domestic violence for violating a protection order.

He was also processed at Hope Valley Barracks and released with a scheduled appearance at the Fourth District Court.

The following night, on Jan. 7 at 12:07 a.m., William Desantis, 45, was stopped on Providence Street in West Warwick, resulting in his arrest on a warrant for second-offense shoplifting of items valued over $100, originating from the Warwick Police Department.

Desantis, a resident of West Warwick, was processed at Wickford Barracks and then turned over to Warwick Police.
