Putnam man stabbed, police search for known suspect

PUTNAM — A 44-year-old man was seriously injured in a stabbing at a Powhattan Street residence early Monday morning, authorities said.

The Putnam Emergency Dispatch Center received a 911 call at 3:02 a.m. from the victim reporting the assault.

Putnam Police Department officers and EMS responded to the scene at 102 Powhattan Street, where they found the victim with significant injuries caused by an edged instrument.

Despite the serious assault, the victim remained conscious and alert while being treated at the scene.

He was later transported to Day Kimball Hospital for further medical care.

A K9 team from the Connecticut State Police Troop D Barracks was deployed to track the suspect, who had fled the scene.

The initial investigation by the Patrol and Detective Divisions indicated that the victim and suspect knew each other, and the attack was targeted.

Police have assured the public that there seems to be no ongoing threat in connection with this incident.
