RUSSELL — A head-on collision at 172 Westfield Rd last night has left five people, including two juveniles, injured and transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for treatment.
The Russell-Montgomery Police Department received a call about the accident at approximately 5:30 p.m.
Responders from Hilltown EMS, Westfield Fire Department, and West Springfield Fire Department arrived to assist with the transport of the injured parties.
The scene of the crash also saw assistance from the Russell Fire Department, Massachusetts State Police, and Chester Blandford Police Department.
Preliminary investigations suggest that one of the vehicles may have veered over the center lines, leading to the crash.
As the investigation continues, authorities indicate that charges may be filed in relation to the incident.
