BOSTON — Boston Police Department’s Drug Control Unit carried out a series of raids in Dorchester on Monday morning, resulting in the arrest of a local man on multiple drug trafficking charges.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., officers from the C-6 (South Boston) Drug Control Unit, working alongside members from the A-1, B-2, and C-11 units, arrested 41-year-old Martin Alcantara of Dorchester.
The operation marked the end of an extensive investigation into a drug distribution network spanning across the city.
Detectives, having obtained search warrants for two residences, a vehicle, and Alcantara himself, executed the warrants at 9:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. The targeted locations included 220 Hamilton Street, 10 Michigan Avenue, and a traffic stop at 314 Bowdoin Street.
During the traffic stop, officers found two plastic bags of fentanyl hidden in Alcantara’s mouth, another bag of the same substance in his underwear, and loose crack cocaine inside his wallet.
Further searches at the residences resulted in the seizure of additional quantities of fentanyl and cocaine, along with drug packaging and distribution materials, and an undisclosed sum of money.
Alcantara is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of trafficking in fentanyl, with an amount ranging between 100 and 200 grams, trafficking in cocaine of 200 grams or more, and possession of Class B substances with intent to distribute.
