East Greenwich woman charged with forgery, Warwick resident faces DUI

EAST GREENWICH — Troopers arrested Ninfa Lorena Bautista Garcia, age 28, of Cranston, on charges of forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates following a traffic stop on Route 4 on Tuesday afternoon.

At 3:50 p.m., Rhode Island State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop which led to the arrest of Bautista Garcia.

She was taken to the Wickford Barracks for processing and was later arraigned by a Justice of the Peace.

Bautista Garcia has a future court date scheduled at the Third District Court.

In a separate incident, Brenda Briggs, age 57, of Wakefield, was arrested late Tuesday night on charges of driving under the influence.

The arrest occurred at 11:34 p.m. after a traffic stop on Route 95 in Warwick.

Briggs’ blood alcohol content was measured at .085 and .087 in two separate tests.

Briggs was also transported to the Wickford Barracks, processed, and arraigned by a Justice of the Peace.

She was released into the custody of a responsible adult and is scheduled to appear in the Third District Court at a later date.
