BARNARD — In the early hours of Dec. 24, Vermont State Police apprehended 32-year-old James Badger of Northfield after a series of offenses that included DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, and multiple active arrest warrants.

Authorities were alerted to an incident on Bowman Rd, where multiple individuals were reported unconscious in a vehicle.

When White River Valley Ambulance personnel arrived and tried to provide medical assistance, Badger, the driver, suddenly drove off negligently and later intentionally struck the ambulance before fleeing.

After crashing his vehicle, Badger and two passengers tried to escape on foot but were quickly caught by the police.

Upon arrest, it was discovered that Badger had a criminally suspended license and six outstanding arrest warrants.

These warrants included charges for fentanyl trafficking, burglary, multiple violations of probation, and other offenses.

Badger was cited for the new charges from the incident and is currently being held at Southern State Correctional Facility in Springfield without bail due to the severity of the arrest warrants.
