RAYNHAM — Chief Timothy Nixon of the West Bridgewater Police Department announced the arrest of a Raynham man connected to a hit-and-run collision that resulted in serious injuries.
Zachary Adomaitis, 28, of Raynham, was taken into custody and faces a slew of charges including possession of a Class B drug, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, attaching wrong plates to conceal identity, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, and a motorcycle passenger violation for not wearing a helmet.
The incident occurred on Friday, Dec. 20, at around 2:10 p.m. when police responded to a report of a vehicle accident at the intersection of North Main and Matfield streets.
An initial investigation indicated that Adomaitis was operating a motorcycle erratically, passing other vehicles on North Main Street before colliding with a truck exiting Matfield Street.
Following the crash, Adomaitis fled the scene and was not immediately located.
A passenger on the motorcycle, who was not wearing a helmet, sustained significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital in serious condition.
Subsequent investigation efforts by Sgt. Todd Cantalupo and Officers Gerard Julien-Suarez, Christopher Huyghe, and Stefano D’Emilia led to the identification of Adomaitis as the suspect.
On Sunday, Dec. 22, Officer D’Emilia arrested Adomaitis, who also had an outstanding warrant from Brockton District Court.
During the arrest, Adomaitis was found in possession of cocaine.
Adomaitis was arraigned on Monday at Brockton District Court and is being held without bail.
