BOSTON — A routine traffic stop in Roxbury led to the arrest of a 44-year-old man on multiple firearm and drug charges early Thursday morning.
At approximately 3:15 a.m. on Dec. 19, 2024, officers from the Boston Police Department’s District B-2 observed a vehicle speeding on Blue Hill Avenue.
The driver, later identified as Tyshaun McGhee of Roxbury, initially failed to stop when officers activated their emergency lights and sirens.
McGhee eventually pulled over near Seaver Street and Maple Street but refused to exit the vehicle when asked.
As officers attempted to remove him, McGhee reportedly reached for an object, which officers discovered was a firearm.
A struggle ensued, prompting officers to call for backup.
Multiple units responded to assist in subduing and arresting McGhee.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers recovered a digital scale, 34 grams of crack cocaine, marijuana, and drug packaging materials.
The firearm, identified as a Polymer 80 with five rounds in the magazine, was also seized.
McGhee faces numerous charges, including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, drug trafficking, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest.
He is scheduled to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
