SPRINGFIELD — Springfield police officers seized an illegal firearm Thursday night in connection with a shots fired call on Fort Pleasant Avenue, marking the department’s 310th illegal firearm seizure this year.
Officers responded to an apartment building in the 0-100 block of Fort Pleasant Avenue at 8:45 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire.
They found evidence in an alley that led them to an apartment with bullet holes in the door and window.
Inside the apartment, officers discovered two individuals, identified as Ivan Brewster Jr., 41, of Springfield, and Jahleo Paquin, 26, of Three Rivers.
The officers observed bullet holes inside the apartment and seized a large-capacity firearm.
Brewster was found in possession of ammunition, while Paquin was found with crack cocaine.
Both men were arrested at the scene.
Brewster faces charges including possession of a firearm without an FID card, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, and possession of ammunition without an FID card.
He also had outstanding arrest and default warrants.
Paquin is charged with possession of a firearm without an FID card, improper storage of a large capacity firearm, and possession of a Class B drug.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m., according to police reports.
