Newbury traffic stop leads to drug arrests, seizure

NEWBURY — A routine traffic stop by Newbury police led to two arrests on drug charges and the seizure of a vehicle containing suspected fentanyl and a firearm, authorities said Tuesday.

The incident began on Dec. 12, 2024, when Newbury Police Department officers conducted a motor vehicle stop.

Two individuals were arrested for drug-related offenses, and police seized the vehicle.

After obtaining a search warrant on Dec. 18, officers searched the vehicle and discovered a significant quantity of controlled substances, including suspected fentanyl.

They also found a scale, packaging materials, and a firearm, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing, officials said.

Newbury Police Department expressed gratitude to the New London and Sunapee police departments for their assistance during the arrest and vehicle seizure.
