Springfield police issue citations for credit card fraud

SPRINGFIELD — Two Springfield residents face charges of illegal possession of a credit card and fraudulent use following an investigation into suspicious transactions, police said.

Chelsea Perry, 34, and Benjiman Runnells Sr., 37, were issued citations to appear in Windsor Superior Court at 8:30 a.m. on Jan. 7, according to the Springfield Police Department.

The investigation began on Oct. 24 when a victim reported leaving their wallet on a bench.

Upon returning about 15 minutes later, the wallet was gone.

The victim was later notified by their bank of suspicious transactions on their account.

Officer Woodell conducted the investigation, which led to the citations being issued.

The incident was reported to police at 5 p.m. on Oct. 23.
