GRAND LAKE STREAM — A propane explosion destroyed a single-family home and injured a delivery driver Thursday morning in Grand Lake Stream, officials said.

The Maine Fire Marshal’s Office responded to 155 Milford Road at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 19, 2024, after a malfunction during a propane tank filling process led to a gas release and subsequent explosion.

The fire originated on the exterior of the structure where a VL Tammaro delivery driver was filling residential propane tanks.

An unknown ignition source sparked the released gas, causing the explosion.

The driver sustained second-degree burns and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The property owner, who was home at the time, was not injured.

The Fire Marshal’s Office, assisted by the Maine Fuel Board, is investigating the incident.
