NORTH HAMPTON — Police Chief Robert C. LaBarge, Jr., has announced his intent to resign from his position at the North Hampton Police Department effective Jan. 16, 2025.
In a letter to the North Hampton community, LaBarge expressed both gratitude and sadness over his decision to step down.
Having served the community for the past 18 months, he described his tenure as one of the greatest honors of his career.
LaBarge praised the unique spirit of North Hampton, citing community events such as concerts at the bandstand and senior lunches as highlights of his time in office.
Under his leadership, the police department has seen the introduction of a new cruiser design, created in partnership with Winnacunnet High School students, to reflect the community’s creativity and pride.
The department has also strengthened its engagement with the local school to ensure students’ safety and has developed policies aimed at enhancing professionalism, accountability, and service.
LaBarge thanked the community for its support in providing a new public safety building, which has transformed the department’s ability to serve and connect with residents.
Acknowledging the difficulty of his departure, LaBarge stated his confidence that the department would continue to uphold the town’s values under new leadership.
He expressed his deep appreciation for the trust and support he received, which contributed to his personal and professional growth.
