Franklin man charged with aggravated assault after altercation

HIGHGATE — A Franklin man was charged with aggravated assault following an incident where a person was struck by a vehicle after an altercation early Saturday morning.

Vermont State Police were called to 977 Campagna Rd. at approximately 2:19 a.m. following reports of a person hit by a vehicle in a yard.

Upon arrival, troopers found the vehicle involved had left the scene.

The victim, identified as 30-year-old William White of Highgate, was transported by Missisquoi Valley Rescue to Northwestern Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A second individual, Katelyn Irons, also 30, from Highgate, was involved in the incident but did not report any injuries.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that Morgan Lockerby, 25, of Franklin, had committed the crime.

Lockerby was issued a flash citation to appear in the Franklin County Superior Court on Dec. 16 at 1 p.m. to answer the charge of aggravated assault.
