Two injured in rollover crash in Russell, airlifted to Baystate Medical

RUSSELL — A two-car collision on Blandford Rd late last night resulted in a rollover accident, trapping two individuals and prompting a response from multiple emergency services.

At approximately 6:12 p.m., the Russell-Montgomery Police Department was dispatched to the scene of the accident.

During transit, Northampton Control Dispatch informed the responding units that two occupants were trapped inside one of the vehicles and that Life Star, an air ambulance service, would be assisting with the response.

Hilltown EMS quickly attended to a female victim who was partially ejected from the overturned vehicle.

She was transported to the waiting Life Star helicopter and flown to Baystate Medical Center for treatment.

Additionally, a male victim was taken to the same facility by an ambulance from the Westfield Fire Department.

The Massachusetts State Police Crash Reconstruction team was called to the scene to aid in the investigation of the accident’s cause.

The Russell Fire Department, Hilltown Community Ambulance Association, Massachusetts State Police, Westfield Fire Department, and Life Star were all acknowledged for their coordinated effort in the rescue and emergency response.
