South Windsor man arrested for October mattress theft

SOUTH WINDSOR — A local man was arrested Thursday on charges related to the theft of a foam mattress in October from a Lowe’s store, police said.

Donald Evans, 40, of Meriden, was taken into custody after turning himself in at the South Windsor Police Department headquarters on an active arrest warrant.

According to the police report, Evans allegedly stole a mattress valued at $488 from the Lowe’s at 31 Buckland Hills Drive.

The arrest occurred at 7:12 a.m. on Dec. 12.

After processing, Evans was released on a $1,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Jan. 8 at 9 a.m.
