NORTON — A single-vehicle crash on Mansfield Avenue caused a power outage and road closure Monday after the car struck a utility pole, police said.
The incident occurred around 241 Mansfield Avenue when a southbound vehicle left the roadway and hit the pole, snapping it in half, according to the Norton Police Department.
The impact brought down power lines onto the road and sidewalk.
The driver, who was alone in the vehicle, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital.
Mansfield Avenue was temporarily closed while utility crews worked to clear the downed lines and restore power to the affected area.
Police and utility workers remained at the scene until about 6 p.m.
Norton Police Officer Christopher McCarthy is investigating the crash.
The police department did not release information about the driver’s identity or potential causes of the accident.
