BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers made an on-site firearm arrest of a 17-year-old male at approximately 9:40 p.m., on Dec. 4, while patrolling the Mattapan neighborhood.

The officers, assigned to District B-3, were drawn to two individuals walking in the middle of Stratton Street.

Attempting to evade the officers, the pair quickened their pace.

After a threshold inquiry, which led to the temporary release of both individuals, detectives were called to assist with further investigation.

Surveillance footage revealed that one of the individuals had concealed an item behind a vehicle upon noticing the police cruiser.

A subsequent search uncovered a Springfield Armory firearm with a magazine holding eighteen rounds and one round in the chamber, discarded under the vehicle.

The suspects were located near 185 Harvard Street, and the 17-year-old was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, a large capacity feeding device, and carrying a loaded firearm in public.

He is slated to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
