Holyoke police arrest man with loaded gun, drugs after break-in attempt

HOLYOKE — Early this morning, Holyoke Police officers were dispatched to an alleged break-in at an apartment on 70 Chestnut Street, where they encountered a male suspect who fled the scene.

The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Angel Babilonia, was chased down and apprehended in the St. Jerome Church parking lot.

A subsequent search revealed Babilonia was in possession of a loaded .22 caliber revolver and an undisclosed amount of crack cocaine.

Babilonia was charged with firearm possession without an FID card, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, trespassing, possession of ammunition without an FID card, and possession of a Class B substance.

He was arraigned later today on these charges.
