TEWKSBURY — Tewksbury Police have arrested Henry Cruz, 26, of Lawrence on multiple charges, including larceny of a motor vehicle, after a stolen vehicle was recovered from a motel parking lot.
Police Chief Ryan Columbus announced the arrest, stating that Cruz is also charged with receiving stolen property, possession of a Class B substance, breaking and entering into a motor vehicle in the nighttime, and receiving stolen property motor vehicle.
The investigation began when officers responded to a call at approximately 9:11 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 1, at a business on Old Main Street regarding a stolen 2023 Acura, which had been left for maintenance.
Surveillance footage showed the car leaving the premises around 1:42 a.m. on Nov. 30.
Later, the Tewksbury Police located the missing Acura at a Motel 6 on Main Street.
Cruz, who was staying at the motel, was identified as the suspect in possession of the vehicle and was arrested without incident.
During his arrest, officers found several strips of Suboxone among Cruz’s belongings.
Further investigation suggested that Cruz allegedly tampered with and opened packages that did not belong to him while taking the vehicle from the business.
Cruz is scheduled for arraignment in Lowell District Court on Monday.
