East Providence man faces hit and run charges, multiple arrests by state troopers

LINCOLN WOODS — In a series of incidents, Rhode Island State Troopers arrested four individuals on varying charges, including leaving the scene of an accident and obstructing an officer.

On Dec. 1 at 3 p.m., troopers apprehended Abdul Sami, 21, of East Providence, following an investigation into a hit and run accident on Route 95.

Providence Police located Sami on Allens Avenue in Providence.

He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in damage to an attended vehicle and obstructing an officer in execution of duty.

Sami was processed, arraigned, and released with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.

Hours into Dec. 2, at midnight, Yeury Rodriguez, 37, of Providence, was arrested on a bench warrant for failing to appear for arraignment on charges of driving with a suspended license.

This was his fourth or subsequent offense, stemming from the North Providence Police Department.

The arrest followed a motor vehicle stop on Linwood Avenue.

Rodriguez was processed and transferred to the Adult Correctional Institutions Men’s Intake Center.

At 2 a.m. the same day, Carlos Figuereo, 24, also of Providence, was taken into custody for obstructing an officer in execution of duty and domestic violence for violating a no-contact order.

Troopers responding to reports of debris on Route 95 initiated the arrest.

Figuereo was held overnight pending arraignment.

Finally, at 4:25 a.m., Yhoanne Vasquez, 26, of North Providence, was arrested for driving under the influence and refusal to submit to a chemical test after troopers investigated a report of a wrong-way driver on the Airport Connector in Warwick.

Vasquez was processed and released with a notice to appear in Third Division District Court.
