Willimantic police seek help identifying attempted robbery suspect

WILLIMANTIC — On Wednesday, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Willimantic Police were called to the local Dollar General after an attempted robbery was reported.

The unidentified suspect allegedly suggested possession of a firearm inside their jacket pocket, but no weapon was visible on the store’s surveillance footage.

The individual fled on foot before law enforcement arrived on the scene.

Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.

Authorities have provided a description of the suspect: a roughly 5-foot-5 individual wearing a black mask, a black or blue hoodie, black pants, and a blue winter hat.

A witness claimed the suspect spoke with a heavy Spanish accent.

The Willimantic Police Department is actively investigating the case and has issued a call for public assistance.
