WATERBURY — A local man was arrested Wednesday evening after Vermont State Police responded to a report of an armed confrontation at a residence on US Route 2.
Troopers received the call at approximately 5:15 p.m. and arrived to find 52-year-old Jason Russell being held on the ground by Gregory Haskins, 51, outside Haskins’ home.
Russell, also a Waterbury resident, had allegedly threatened to kill the occupants of the house while brandishing a firearm.
According to police, Haskins managed to disarm Russell and subdue him until authorities arrived.
Russell was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Berlin Barracks where he was processed for aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, criminal driving with a suspended license (DLS), and leaving the scene of an accident (LSA).
The incident remains under investigation as State Police continue to gather details.
