SPRINGFIELD — In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Springfield Police Department’s Firearms Investigation Unit, led by Captain Brian Keenan and Sergeants Jaime Bruno and David Robillard, arrested thirteen individuals on Tuesday.

The operation also led to the seizure of an illegal firearm and a substantial quantity of cocaine and heroin.

For several weeks, the FIU had been probing a residence on the 0-100 block of Carew Terrace, suspected of being a hub for narcotic distribution, causing distress in the neighborhood.

The investigation pinpointed Luis Padro, Monte Haynes-Carthon, and Ashley Griffin as key figures in the operation, leading to a warranted search of the premises.

At 4:20 p.m., two known individuals, Tylor Bombardier and Ashley King, were spotted leaving the scrutinized home and venturing into a wooded area behind Shaine Circle.

Both had outstanding arrest warrants and were apprehended with heroin and crack-cocaine in their possession.

Subsequently, at 5:20 p.m., David Alexander and Margaret Davis were arrested during a traffic stop on the 300 block of Stafford Street after they were seen interacting with the suspect residence.

They were found in possession of crack-cocaine.

The search warrant was executed at approximately 6:15 p.m., with Padro, Melissa Goodreau, Scott Henley, Griffin, Haylee Champagne, and John Friberg Jr. detained inside the home.

The search yielded a firearm, ammunition, around 42 grams of cocaine, 23 grams of heroin, and over $1,100 in cash, resulting in the arrest of all present for various charges.

Later, around 8:20 p.m., three more individuals approached the Carew Terrace home.

Upon noticing the police, they retreated but were detained on the 1300 block of Carew Street.

Haynes-Carthon, one of the three, was found with cocaine and arrested along with Chelsea Lucia and Jonathan Cunningham, who had active warrants.

The arrested face an array of charges including drug trafficking, possession with intent to distribute, and firearm-related offenses.

The operation underscores the police department’s ongoing commitment to combatting drug-related crime in the community.
