PLYMOUTH — A Plymouth woman was arrested Tuesday after a video surfaced showing her SUV nearly hitting a child while illegally passing a stopped school bus last week, police said.

Brenda Mello, 59, is facing charges of failure to stop for a school bus, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, and assault by means of a dangerous weapon, according to Plymouth Police Chief Dana A. Flynn.

Authorities received a report on Nov. 22 at around 8:45 a.m. about the incident, which involved Mello’s vehicle using a homeowner’s circular driveway to bypass a school bus that was picking up students with its red lights flashing.

The homeowner provided a video that caught the event, including the close encounter with the 10-year-old boy.

Mello is slated for arraignment in Plymouth District Court later today.
