Man cited for negligent operation during I-91 crash response in Brattleboro

BRATTLEBORO — Early on Nov. 27, a Massachusetts man was cited for negligent operation after driving through a road closure set up for a tractor-trailer crash on Interstate 91.

According to Vermont State Police, at around 6:44 a.m., Antonio Meza Luna, 32, of Springfield, drove past marked emergency vehicles, traffic cones, signals, and personnel that were responding to the crash, which had closed both northbound lanes of the interstate.

Meza Luna’s vehicle, also carrying ten passengers, was stopped by the authorities.

After the incident, he was issued multiple Vermont Civil Violation Complaints.

His vehicle was towed from the scene, and he received a criminal citation to appear at the Windham County Superior Court on Jan. 21 at 8:30 a.m.

The coordinated response included personnel from Brattleboro Police and Fire, DMV Police, and A’s Auto, in addition to the state police.

Further details on the tractor-trailer crash have not been released.

Traffic was disrupted for several hours as crews worked to clear the incident.
