NEWPORT — North Country Hospital continues to monitor its intravenous solution supplies as Baxter’s North Carolina plant reaches 25 percent operational capacity, two months after Hurricane Helene disrupted production.

The hospital’s IV Task Force and Incident Command team meets multiple times weekly to assess inventory and coordinate care adjustments.

The facility has maintained patient care through conservation efforts and alternative supply sources.

“Our clinical staff has done an excellent job of IV solution conservation,” NCH said in a statement. “We will continue the conservation process for the foreseeable future without compromising patient care.”

The Baxter facility, which produces 60 percent of U.S. IV solutions, was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene in late September.
