BOSTON — A 16-year-old male has been arrested in connection with the Fifield Street homicide, Boston Police Department officials said Tuesday.

The suspect, wanted on a Dorchester District Court warrant for murder and firearms charges, was apprehended during a traffic stop on Neptune Road by members of the Fugitive Unit conducting an investigation on Homer Street.

Upon the vehicle stop, the juvenile was removed, handcuffed, and found in possession of a firearm with thirteen rounds.

He faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license and possession of a high-capacity firearm.

The suspect is due for arraignment in Boston Juvenile Court.

The homicide investigation stems from a June 28 incident where police found a crashed car at 24 Fifield Street.

The passenger, with a broken leg, was transported to a hospital, while the driver, Edwin Diaz-Geraldo, 20, of Brighton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Homicide Unit is actively seeking information and encourages anyone with knowledge to contact 617-343-4470 or anonymously through the CrimeStoppers Tip Line at 1-800-494-TIPS.
