Man dies in Claremont box truck fire

CLAREMONT — A man has died following a fire in a box truck on Washington Street early this morning, prompting a joint investigation by local authorities and the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office.

The fire, which occurred at 287 Washington Street, was reported at 1:50 a.m., and the adult male victim was found deceased at the scene.

An autopsy was conducted at 10:30 a.m. to determine the cause and manner of death, which remain under investigation pending the results of laboratory tests.

The identity of the victim has not yet been established.

New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Claremont Fire Chief Jim Chamberlain, and Claremont Police Chief Brent Wilmot are overseeing the investigation into the origins and cause of the blaze.

The inquiry is active, with members from the State Fire Marshal’s Office collaborating with local fire and police departments.
