MANCHESTER — Mickey Garst, the man who shot a woman outside a downtown bar, was sentenced Friday to 9 to 30 years in prison following a guilty plea to several charges, including First Degree Assault and Felon in Possession of a Dangerous Weapon.
Assistant County Attorneys Laura Del Camp and Patrick Ives prosecuted the case, which concluded with Garst receiving a minimum of 9 and a maximum of 30 years at the New Hampshire State Prison for the attack on his ex-girlfriend.
Garst, who had a prior record of Robbery and Burglary, was prohibited from possessing a firearm at the time of the shooting.
In addition to his prison sentence, Garst was also handed a long suspended sentence.
This includes a minimum of 10 years to a maximum of 20 years, all of which is suspended for 25 years following his release.
Moreover, Garst received a suspended sentence of 3½ to 7 years at the New Hampshire State Prison, which is suspended for 30 years from his release date.
Throughout the investigation and prosecution, the County Attorney’s office worked in collaboration with Elliot Hospital and the Manchester Police Department.
The County Attorney praised the victim for her courage and determination during the legal process and acknowledged her ongoing recovery.
