St. Johnsbury man charged with grand larceny for gaming console theft

ST. JOHNSBURY — A local resident, Justin M. Benton, 30, has been charged with grand larceny following the theft of a gaming console from a St. Johnsbury home, police reported Monday.

The St Johnsbury Police Department began investigating the theft on Oct. 28 after the homeowner reported the missing gaming system.

Detective Sgt. Lester Cleary led the inquiry which utilized surveillance footage to identify Benton as the suspect.

Benton was apprehended without incident and is scheduled to appear in the Caledonia court on Dec. 30 at 8:30 a.m. to respond to the charge.

The court has confirmed that action will be taken.

Benton was not lodged in jail and no bail has been set.
