WALLINGFORD — A three-vehicle collision on US Route 7 near Hartsboro Rd. left one driver hospitalized with minor injuries and another facing DUI charges, according to Vermont State Police.
The accident occurred on Nov. 25 at approximately 12:33 p.m. when a southbound 2022 Ford Bronco, driven by 45-year-old Peter Guernsey of Hudson, New York, crossed the double yellow centerline and struck a 2022 Hino Box Truck operated by Jhon Angel, 55, of Fall River, Massachusetts.
Guernsey’s vehicle then continued into the northbound lane and collided with a 2024 Ford Transit driven by Daniel Billings, 39, from Colchester.
Guernsey, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for evaluation.
He exhibited signs of impairment and is being processed on suspicion of driving under the influence, with court action and civil violation complaints pending.
The collision caused Billings’ Transit to leave the roadway and roll down an embankment, but Billings, who was wearing a seatbelt, did not sustain any injuries.
Angel, who was also wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed, and no hospitalization was required for him.
The Ford Bronco and the Ford Transit sustained total damage, while the Hino Box Truck had contact damage to the driver’s side.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Wallingford and Danby Town Fire Departments at the scene.
