BOSTON — Officers from the Boston Police Department arrested a 21-year-old man on firearm charges Friday morning after a motor vehicle accident led to the recovery of a fully automatic Glock 19 with an obliterated serial number.
At about 4:46 a.m., officers assigned to District E-5 (Roslindale/West Roxbury) and District E-18 (Hyde Park) responded to a report of a verbal altercation near Polar Street and Dale Street in Roslindale.
Upon arrival, they discovered a motor vehicle accident and confirmed that no injuries had occurred.
Richard Bereus of Taunton, one of the operators involved in the accident, was observed screaming and attempting to walk away from the scene.
Officers detained Bereus and informed him that his vehicle would need to be towed.
During a routine inventory search of the vehicle, officers uncovered a Glock 19 equipped with a Sear Switch, converting it into a fully automatic weapon.
The gun also contained seventeen rounds in the magazine.
Bereus was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, and receiving a firearm with a defaced serial number.
He is scheduled to be arraigned at West Roxbury District Court.
