Waterbury police arrest suspect in stolen vehicle case

WATERBURY — Police arrested a 21-year-old man Tuesday in connection with a stolen vehicle from New Haven.

Officers from the Waterbury Police Department’s Auto Theft Task Force located a stolen 2013 gray Hyundai Sonata parked at 133 Hamden Avenue at 3:17 p.m., authorities said.

Police observed the suspect, identified as Nygel Carr of Waterbury, park the vehicle at the address.

When officers approached, Carr attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended after a brief pursuit.

Carr faces charges including larceny of a motor vehicle, first-degree criminal trover, interfering with a police officer and operating a motor vehicle without a license.

The vehicle had been reported stolen from New Haven, Connecticut, according to police.
