Pedestrian struck by car on US 7 in Rutland

RUTLAND — A pedestrian suffered minor injuries after being struck by a car on U.S.

Route 7 in Rutland early Friday morning, Vermont State Police said.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:45 a.m. near Alderman’s Toyota, about 300 feet north of Seward Road.

Fredrick Raymond, 67, of Whitehall, N.Y., was driving southbound in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata when he collided with Gregory Shaw, 39, who was walking northbound in the southbound lane.

Shaw, described as transient, sustained minor injuries but refused hospital treatment.

Raymond was uninjured, and his vehicle suffered minor damage.

Witnesses reported that Shaw was not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision.

Rutland Town Fire Department and Regional Ambulance Service assisted state troopers at the scene.
