MILFORD — A Milford man wanted for striking a pedestrian and her child earlier this month was arrested early Wednesday morning in a joint law enforcement effort, officials said.
Luis Cajilema Tene, 28, was taken into custody at 5:21 a.m. on Nov. 20 on a Continental United States Warrant by the Milford Police Detective Bureau, Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS) and the U.S. Marshals Service.
The arrest stemmed from an incident on Nov. 10, when Cajilema Tene, while operating a grey sedan on Central St., allegedly hit a female pedestrian carrying her 2-year-old child and fled the scene.
Following the hit-and-run, Cajilema Tene reportedly left Massachusetts in an attempt to evade law enforcement.
Over the next ten days, Milford Police, VFAS, and U.S. Marshals conducted a coordinated investigation, tracking the suspect’s movements.
Authorities received a tip-off that he was planning to return to Milford this week, which led to the successful apprehension.
During the morning operation on Central St., officers arrested Cajilema Tene without incident.
He was then transported to Milford District Court, where he faced arraignment on charges related to the hit-and-run accident.
The condition of the mother and child involved in the incident was not immediately released.
