AVON — Two suspects were apprehended in Georgia as part of a four-month investigation into a residential burglary in Avon, which has been linked to a South American Theft Group with activities across several states.
On May 7, at 9:46 p.m., the Avon Police Department responded to a reported burglary on Robkins Road.
With the assistance of the homeowner and neighboring residents, authorities obtained security footage of the suspects attempting to break into the home before fleeing.
Avon Police Detectives, in collaboration with state and out-of-state agencies, identified five suspects associated with thefts in Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and Ohio.
Working with the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office, Avon detectives secured arrest warrants for each suspect.
On Oct. 4, Georgia officials arrested two of the suspects, Alexandria Bravo Valencia and Misael De La Colina Palomino, on the strength of these warrants.
Throughout October, Avon detectives coordinated with Georgia officials for the suspects’ extradition.
On Nov. 19 and 20, Avon Police Department members and the Hartford State’s Attorney’s Office returned the suspects to Connecticut.
Valencia and Palomino were processed at the Avon Police Department, each held on a $500,000 surety bond.
Valencia and Palomino will be arraigned at Hartford Superior Court on Nov. 21.
Palomino faces charges of Criminal Attempt at Burglary First Degree and Conspiracy to commit Burglary First Degree.
Bravo is charged with Conspiracy to commit Burglary First Degree.
