NEW HAVEN — Members of the New Haven Police Department’s Shooting Task Force and Criminal Intelligence Units today apprehended a suspect and seized a loaded pistol and narcotics following a brief chase near Washington Avenue.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., officers spotted a vehicle tied to recent gunfire incidents.
As law enforcement officials approached, one individual, later identified as Shyon Edwards, fled on foot.
Edwards was quickly detained by the officers.
Authorities reported no injuries during the incident.
A loaded pistol equipped with a 15-round magazine and several grams of crack-cocaine were confiscated during the arrest.
Charges against Edwards are pending as the investigation continues.
