Woman arrested for driving wrong way on I-93 in Salem

SALEM — A Massachusetts woman was arrested after driving the wrong way on Interstate 93 late Sunday evening.

New Hampshire State Police reported that at approximately 10:45 p.m. on Nov. 17, Trooper William Moran, stationed at the Troop B barracks, spotted a vehicle heading northbound in the southbound lanes near Exit 1 in Salem.

Moran paralleled the car on the northbound side before using a crossover to bring the vehicle to a stop near Exit 2.

The driver, identified as 49-year-old Deirdre Masi from Lowell, Massachusetts, faces multiple charges including driving while intoxicated – subsequent offense, reckless conduct – deadly weapon, reckless driving, and criminal threatening.

Following her arrest, Masi was placed in preventative detention at the Rockingham County Department of Corrections.

She is scheduled for arraignment today in Salem District Court.
