Shelton historic golf course clubhouse destroyed by fire

SHELTON — A late-night fire on Nov. 15 ravaged the historic clubhouse at the Highland Golf Course in Shelton, leaving nothing but charred remains of the 125-year-old structure.

The Shelton Fire Department and Shelton Police Department were called to the scene at approximately 11:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found the building fully engulfed in flames.

Despite the efforts of the first responders, the structure could not be saved.

Officials confirmed that there were no injuries as no civilians were present during the incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

Fire crews are expected to continue monitoring the site through Saturday to manage any potential flare-ups, given the ongoing dry conditions and forecasted high winds.

The Shelton Police Command Staff released a statement expressing their appreciation for the dedication and hard work of all the first responders, including the Shelton Fire Department, Fire Marshal’s Office, EMS, and Police Department.
