NEW LONDON — On Thursday, Nov. 14, at approximately 5 p.m., the New London Police Department responded to a report of domestic violence.
The victim initially reported the incident to the Waterford Police Department, which notified New London authorities.
The reported domestic violence occurred at a residence in New London, and a member of the New London Police Department also reported a domestic violence incident at the same location.
The New London Police Department’s Investigative Services Division, in partnership with the Office of the State’s Attorney New London Judicial District, conducted a thorough investigation into the incident.
Julio Gil-Martinez, born June 13, 1995, from New London, was arrested by warrant on Nov. 16.
Gil-Martinez faces charges of threatening in the second degree, assault in the third degree, strangulation in the second degree, unlawful restraint in the first degree, and interfering with an emergency call.
A judge set a $75,000 cash-surety bond for Gil-Martinez at GA 10 in New London.
The investigation into the domestic violence incident remains active, and the New London Police Department urges anyone with information to contact their Detective Bureau at 860-447-1481.
