FALL RIVER — A brawl involving a group of juveniles at a local plaza prompted a response from the City of Fall River Police Department Thursday afternoon, with officers arriving around 3 p.m. to 1620 President Avenue after receiving reports of the disturbance.

As the crowd began to disperse upon the arrival of Patrol Bureau Units and School Resource Officers, law enforcement officials were able to interview witnesses and identify individuals suspected of being involved in the altercation.

The investigation, led by School Resource Officers from the Juvenile Division and in collaboration with school administrators, was bolstered by videos of the incident shared on social media.

The inquiry resulted in 10 juveniles being charged in connection to the skirmish.

In anticipation of further incidents, police increased their presence at B.M.C.

Durfee High School on Friday, Nov. 15, as the school day concluded.

Despite warnings, a large assembly of youths once again gathered at the plaza, leading to the arrest of two for trespassing after they failed to heed police instructions to vacate the premises.

Authorities have issued a stern warning against recurring gatherings at the plaza post school release, emphasizing that non-customer groups will face action if they continue to disturb the peace and disrupt local businesses.

Parents have been urged to utilize designated drop-off and pick-up zones at the school instead of the plaza area.

In a joint effort to ensure the safety of attendees at tonight’s homecoming dance at White’s of Westport, the Fall River Police have partnered with Westport Police to provide adequate security for a secure and enjoyable celebration.
