WINCHESTER — A high-speed chase concluded Thursday afternoon with the arrest of a man driving a stolen car, authorities said.
State Troopers from Troop C barracks spotted the 2023 Kia Forte, which was reported stolen earlier that day, on Route 10 near Swanzey at 3:53 p.m. Attempts to pull over the vehicle near Whittemore Farm Road were unsuccessful when the driver, later identified as 33-year-old Demetrius Dargan of Winchester, refused to stop.
The pursuit continued south on Route 10 with Winchester Police Department officers joining the chase.
Officers deployed a tire deflation device that successfully slowed the car.
A second device was used as the chase entered Winchester, eventually bringing the vehicle to a halt.
Dargan was taken into custody and faces felony charges including receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a propelled vehicle, reckless conduct, and operating as a habitual offender.
He also faces misdemeanor charges for disobeying an officer and reckless conduct.
The New Hampshire State Police is conducting further investigation into the incident with the help of the Winchester Police Department.
Additional charges are pending.
