COLCHESTER — A 29-year-old Colchester man was apprehended Friday after fleeing from police and briefly barricading himself inside a residence.
At about 12:12 p.m., officers from the Colchester Police Department located a grey Acura on Prim Road that was known to be operated by Christopher Mitchell.
Mitchell was wanted on an active Department of Corrections warrant.
Upon attempting to stop the vehicle, Mitchell fled on foot, leading officers to a nearby residence which he entered.
Following a short standoff, Mitchell exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
Mitchell was subsequently lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility.
The Colchester Police Department was aided by members of the South Burlington Police Department, Winooski Police Department, and Chittenden County Sheriff’s Department in the operation.
Sgt. Zachary Roy, a spokesperson for the Colchester Police Department, confirmed the arrest and stated that the cooperation between the agencies was instrumental in the peaceful resolution of the incident.
