NEWPORT — A Charleston man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing a truck containing thousands of dollars in tools and driving it across state lines hours after being released from prison.
Harold Nadeau Jr., 48, was arrested yesterday in Littleton, N.H., nearly a week after allegedly stealing a gray Ford F-250 from Coventry Street in Newport, Police Chief Travis Bingham said.
The truck, reported stolen around 4:09 p.m. on November 7, contained approximately $5,000 in tools and a new $1,200 fuel tank. Police located the vehicle in Bethlehem, N.H., about four hours later.
Nadeau, whose license was under indefinite criminal suspension, faces charges of aggravated operation without consent, grand larceny, and operating after license suspension.
He is being held in New Hampshire on $25,000 bail pending arraignment and faces additional charges in Bethlehem.
