Rhode Island police arrest two in separate internet and financial crime cases

WARREN — Police in Rhode Island have arrested two individuals on Nov. 13 in unrelated cases involving internet and financial crimes.

Carrie Leboeuf, 44, of Warren, was taken into custody by members of the Computer Crimes Unit/Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

She is facing charges of possession and transfer of child pornography.

Following her arrest, Leboeuf was processed at the Middletown Police Department before being arraigned at the Second District Court.

The Honorable Judge Houlihan set bail at $5,000 personal recognizance with conditions including limited internet access and no unsupervised contact with minors.

In a separate incident, the Financial Crimes Unit and officers from the Wickford Barracks arrested James E.

Thayer, 54, of North Kingstown, on two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses.

The arrest followed an investigation into Thayer’s activities and a subsequent warrant check at his residence.

Thayer was processed at the Wickford Barracks and later arraigned in Third Division District Court, where he was released on $10,000 personal recognizance.
