Boston man arrested for firearm possession following Mattapan altercation

BOSTON — A confrontation in Mattapan led to the recovery of a firearm and the arrest of a Revere man, police said.

Boston Police Department officers responded to a person with a gun call at 1551 Blue Hill Ave. at 2:51 p.m. on Tuesday.

They arrested Dwan Allison, 42, on firearm-related offenses following a dispute that had spilled into the street from 1549 Blue Hill Ave.

According to the victim, the argument moved to the middle of Blue Hill Ave., after which the suspect was seen with a firearm and fled towards Fairway St. Officers, given a description of the man involved, later spotted Allison exiting a Burger King on Cummins Hwy.

During a pat-frisk, they discovered a suspected firearm in Allison’s cross-body bag.

When Allison reached for the bag and resisted, a struggle ensued.

Officers brought him to the ground and handcuffed him after a minute-long struggle in which a “Stoeger Cougar 3000” 9mm handgun fell from his bag.

The weapon was loaded with one round in the chamber and nine in the magazine, with an additional 15-round magazine found in Allison’s possession.

Allison faces charges including carrying a firearm without a license and resisting arrest.

He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
