NAUGATUCK — A man wanted in connection with an attempted sexual assault of a child was arrested in Pennsylvania and is facing extradition back to Connecticut, authorities said Thursday.

Kevon Beckford, 31, was taken into custody by the Naugatuck Police Department on a warrant on Nov. 7.

The warrant was issued following an investigation that began in February when police received a complaint alleging Beckford attempted to solicit sexual contact from an 8-year-old girl.

Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was signed charging Beckford with criminal attempt at sexual assault in the fourth degree and risk of injury to a minor.

He was held on a $25,000 surety bond.

Beckford was arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court on Nov. 8 at 9 a.m. During his arrest, it was also discovered that Beckford was wanted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

The Naugatuck Police Department has not released further details about the extradition process or the ICE warrant.

Beckford’s case is ongoing, and authorities have not provided additional information about his legal representation or any pleas he may have entered.
